The meat has a strong appeal, fillet with truffle and why not T-Bone steak alla Fiorentina calling out for an important wine such as Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Greppo 2004 DOCG Biondi Santi . Let me tell you this story…

To be honest I do not know where to start, this Brunello di Montalcino 2004 DOCG Tenuta Greppo Biondi Santi is a wine that needs no introduction due to its centuries-old tradition. Imagine that you can still find on sale yet vintages from 1945 onwards , which are still drinkable because the bottles are subject to monitoring and periodic replenishment .

For the 2004 I do not think there was any need to, since 10 years for a brunello are only a few, but if he is called Biondi Santi they are very few.

It should however be uncorked at least an hour before drinking, although two would be better.

So as soon as I entered the restaurant I choose it and I asked to uncork it , and in the meanwhile I drank another great wine for appetizers in order to happily spend the 60 minutes that separate me from him.

Here comes the time , and after the change of the glasses Brunello di Montalcino 2004 DOCG Tenuta Greppo Biondi Santi is poured , and it shows in his austere intense ruby red color with slightly lighter shades on the board.

The absence of orange tones suggests that he feels young , and its delicate scent in between rose and black cherry makes him seem not as strong as it’s 13,5 degrees.

This wine can be understood fully only by drinking it , it is warm and strong but never aggressive with velvety tannins and a perfect balance to the rich and lingering aftertaste full of flavor.

Almost a pity that it is already over , it was perfect served at 18-20 degrees in very large glasses , Brunello di Montalcino 2004 DOCG Tenuta Greppo Biondi Santi is like cherries , one leads to another , but I had to think about it before because now it’s too late to uncork it and put it in the decanter it would be a shame (in my opinion).
